SUPPORT
OUR RESCUE GROUP
San Diego Basset Rescue is looking
for your assistance so that we can continue to provide rescue
services for many years to come. Listed below are some of the
ways you can help out and make a difference. Most importantly
the rescued Bassets will love you for it!
DONATE
Basset Rescue operates with the
money raised during our annual picnic, the adoption fees and
your donations. Although the picnic is a fantastic way to renew
friendships and swap stories of our favorite four-legged friends,
it is also currently our only significant method of fundraising.
So, what happens with the money raised?
- In 2000, we spent approximately
$4,500 in medical bills. This included the cost of spaying or
neutering and any vaccines needed to bring the Bassets up to
date.
- Then there are the extra medical
costs. Eye surgeries, cancer removed, dental cleanings, special
foods, and medication.
- We spend approximately $50 per
month on phone bills.
- The average cost to adopt the
basset from the shelters is $40 (We spent approximately $280
last year).
- The cost to mail the picnic
fliers is nearly $200
So as you can see the costs add
up quickly and in 2008 dollars we will need even more donations
to keep up with . We wish we had a large endowment to help fund
our operations, but we don't so every little bit helps. All checks
made to Basset Hound Rescue and Adoption are tax deductible (State
and Federal). Donations can be mailed to:

FOSTER FAMILIES
We are always looking for potential
foster families who can provide a temporary home and love to
our Bassets waiting for adoption. Its a great way to enjoy the
company of Bassets without the full-time responsibility. If you
are interested in being considered as a foster family for San
Diego Basset Rescue, please contact us by phone (619) 286-8638
or e-mail at jerri@bassetrescuesandiego.org.
VOLUNTEER
Volunteering your time can also
help us out. Planning the annual picnic is a big task and requires
the efforts of many. There are also various activities throughout
the year where an extra pair of hands and a few hours can help
the rescue efforts. If you are interested in volunteering please
give a call or send an e-mail. |
